PFPI29A Family obligations, IPFP implications

This course is a continuation of PFPI25A Live Well Today, Protect Tomorrow, but that course is not a prerequisite.

This course is for all financial planners and especially those who want to advance their knowledge about the legal aspects of adoption, education savings plans, estate planning when there are minor children, protection regimes, advance medical directives and medical assistance in dying.

Description of the case study:

Marc and Stéphanie have been together for over twelve years and got married six years ago. They are the parents of Béatrice, 3, originally from the Philippines and adopted two years ago, and twins Gabriel and Raphaël, 13 months. After consulting with you in 2016, they diligently followed your recommendations about maintaining their cost of living, and the retirement plans developed at the time still reflect their reality, despite the acquisition of a $400,000 home. To allow Marc to spend more time with their little family, the couple decided that he would work from home three days a week and spend the other two days at the office, an agreement his boss accepted. Stéphanie is self-employed and will continue to work from home.

Today, Marc and Stéphanie have come to see you to finalize the aspects of their complete integrated personal financial plan that they put off last time, principally the protection situation and the situation at death.

By the end of the course, the participants will be better able to analyse situations that may affect young families on the birth or adoption of children. The participants will also learn about various government programs for families and have a better understanding of their limitations.

This web-based course is available at any time and may be taken at your own pace, to suit your own schedule. After registration, you will receive an automated e-mail confirmation with instructions to access your course.

You must complete this course by November 30, 2021.
